 Galway, October 2003

Mick Furey hosted an event in the Mervue Leisure Center in Galway on October 30th 2003.  The event featured fighters from Ireland, Holland and Russia, and the main event featured Brendan O'Shea Vs Mike Pasowski from the Bridgestone club in Dublin for an Irish Title at 62kg.
Anthony Hogan and Gearoid X from the club also fought.  Results are below:

Anthony Hogan Vs TBA (Pat McEvoys Gym) - 3x2 minutes 60kg

Anthony Hogan lost on points.

Gearoid X Vs TBA (Pat McEvoys Gym) - 3x2 minutes 73kg

Gearoid lost on points.

Brendan O'Shea Vs Mike Pasowski - 5x3 minutes, Full Thai Rules - Irish Title 62kg

Both fighters just felt each other out for the first round, trying to find some weaknesses in each others technique.
The pace picked up for the second round, with both Brendan and Mike using nice technique and combinations.  However, Pasowski had to take an eight count when Brendan knocked him down with a big left hand.
More of the same in the third round, with both fighters giving it everything.  However, Mike Pasowski had to take another eight count when he was knocked over again by some strong punching by Brendan.  Brendan also managed to open a cut on Pasowskis' head with some nice use of his elbows.
Both fighters gave it their all in the fourth round, but Mike Pasowski eventually won the round after Brendan had to take a standing eight count after being put under some severe pressure from Pasowski.
The fifth and final round was also a fast paced round, with Brendan fighting defensively and Pasowski coming forward aggressively.  No telling shots were landed by either fighter during the round although Pasowski was definitely the more aggressive of the two fighters.

Result:
Mike Pasowski was declared the new Irish champion at 62kg in a very close decision that surprised alot of the people in attendan
