 Galway, April 2002

Cathal O'Reilly, Brendan O'Shea and Jamie Williams all fought and won in the Extreme Fighting V fight night held in the Black Box arena near Eyre Square in Galway City.

  •   Brendan O'Shea vs Martin Ward (Galway) - 3x2mins - 64kg

    • Brendan came back to win this fight by TKO in the second round, despite being knocked over by a punch from Ward in the first.  He fought back well in the second round and connected with a number of kicks to Wards leg, which clearly had an effect on the Galway man.  The referee stepped in and gave Ward a standing 8 count, and Ward was unable to continue.

  • Jamie Williams vs Richie Moore (Dundalk) - 3x2mins - 60kg

    • This was a very close fight and was eventually awarded to Williams by a single point.  Richie Moore dominated the first round, but Williams showed alot of courage and fought back well despite suffering an injury to his knee early in the first round.

  • Cathal O'Reilly vs Barry Friel (Galway) - 3x2mins - 61kg

    • Cathal O'Reilly dominated this fight from start to finish with a very impressive display of skill, never allowing Friel a chance to settle into the fight.  He went on to win the fight on a points decision.

The main event of the night was for the Irish Super Middleweight Title with Galway fighter Mario Flores defending his title against Jamie Crawford from Belfast.  Despite a strong start by Flores, Jamie Crawford fought a very patient fight and finished the stronger of the two, winning the title on a points decision.
