 Dumfries - April 2003

A group of fighters from Cork and Galway travelled to Dumfries in Scotland to take part in a show hosted by Dragons Muay Thai gym.
The fighters were accompanied by Anthony Corkery, and cornermen Andrew O'Brien and Ger Cooke.

The fights went as follows:

Brendan O'Shea Vs Keith Stewart - 5x2 minutes, 61kg

This was a very exciting fight with Keith Stewart taking the initiative early on and using his vast boxing experience to give Brendan two standing eight counts in the first two rounds.
However, Brendan fought back bravely and dominated the third and fourth rounds using strong leg kicks and grappling throwing Keith to the canvas a number of times.
The fifth round was even, with both fighters choosing to grapple and using their knees to good effect.
Result:
Keith Stewart was awarded a very close points decision.

Robert 'The Rock' Ng Vs Mark Grainger - 5x2 minutes, 64kg

This was also a very close fought fight, with both Robert and Mark giving their all for five rounds, both hurting each other at various stages of the fight.  However, Mark Grainger was just that little bit more aggressive throughout the fight, and that was to eventually influence the judges decision.
Result: Mark Grainger won another close points decision.

Mike Conroy

Mike Conroy from Mick Fureys Gym in Galway was also scheduled to fight but unfortunately he was unable to fight after getting poked in the eye with a finger while he was warming up before the fight (nice on Rob!!).

Thanks again to our friends in Dragons Gyms for having us over for the weekend.  We look forward to seeing you all again soon.
