As always Jury's was
completely sold out for our latest fight night. Well done to all
the fighters who took part, and thanks to everyone who helped out on the
night.
The results are as
follows:
This fight was
stopped in the first round when Martin Ward hurt his leg and was
unable to continue.
Winner: Owen

Conor O'Regan
(Cork) vs Barry Friel (Pat McEvoy Gym,
Galway)
3x2 min, 60kg
A very good bout
was had by both fighters, each of them showing great courage and
determination. However, Conor O'Regan was a little better on
the night and took the judges decision.
Winner: Conor
O'Regan, Points.
This fight was
domintated from start to finish by Kevin Campbell who was by far the
more aggressive of the two fighters. In the third round Brian
caught Kevin with a nice kick to the head which knocked the Dublin lad
to the canvas. However, he got back on his feet quickly, and
soon caught Brian with a cracking punch which Brian could not recover
from.
Winner: Kevin
Campbell, TKO Round 3.
Robert Ng took
control of this fight right from the beginning and never gave the
Galway fighter a chance to settle into the fight. His dominance
showed in the second round when the referee gave the Galway man 2
standing eight counts. A well deserved victory for Robert.

Steven used his
height advantage well in this fight keeping his opponent out with good
front kicks and punches. He landed some nice high kicks during
the fight and deserved the judges decision.

O'Connell, Points.
A close fight all
the way through, which unfortunately had to be stopped very close to
the end of the fight due to a cut opening up on Paddy Carmodys
shin. After examination by the doctor, it was decide that Paddy
should not fight on.

Prosirobko, Referee Stops Contest.
In both these
womens' first fight, Lain was much more aggressive and never allowed
Louise to settle into the fight. Louise received a standing
eight count in the second round and the fight was stopped shortly
afterwards.

Second Round.
This was a close
match where both fighter fought well and battled hard throughout the
whole fight. Graham McIvar worked that little bit harder
throughout the fight and took the judges decision.

McIvar, Points.
Both fighters
started the fight well and had some good exchanges of kicks and
punches in the first round. However, Brendan finished the round
stronger and the Dundalk fighter received a standing eight count at
the end of the first. Halfway through the second round, Lynch
was knocked by a punch, and although he made it to his feet, was
unable to carry on.
Winner: Brendan
O'Shea, TKO 2nd Round.
This was by far
the best fight of the night, with both fighters giving it their all
for the five rounds of the contest. The fight was very even all
the way through, and must have been a very hard contest for the
judges. The final decision went to Cathal O'Reilly - a well
earned win.

The final fight of
the night was for the Irish Heavyweight Title. The first round
started quickly with both fighters being very aggressive and hitting
with all their power. During the second round, the Dundalk
fighter had a point deducted for a deliberate head-butt. The
fight was well contested by both fighters, and the judges decision
went to the Dublin fighter, Maximillian Croitora. Well done to
him for defending his title.
